Rolling Hills Public Charter School Dress Code
Uniform Standard:
Tops-Girls and Boys:
- Long or short sleeve solid color polo shirts (including RHPCS polo’s). [Collar must be same color as shirt, no stripes]. (Freshman girls and boys may wear striped polo type shirts)
- Solid color undershirts or camisoles may be worn under polo shirts
- Midriffs, tube tops, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, net tops, plunging necklines or other tops that may reveal abdomen or excessively reveal the chest or underarm area, are not to be worn.
- Only solid color sweaters or sweatshirts (including RHPS sweatshirts)
- Dress code shirt must be top shirt. Decorative tops or vests should not be worn.
Bottoms-Girls and Boys:
- Navy or khaki pants or shorts. (girls may also wear navy or khaki skirts, skorts, capris or jumpers)
- Skirts, dresses, skorts and shorts must fall at least the length of dangling fingertips (mid-thigh).
- Underwear or under garments are not to be visible on either the upper or lower parts of the body.
- Pants are to be worn at the natural waist level (no sagging pants).
- Sweat pants, denim jeans, stretch or stirrup pants or athletic shorts may not be worn.
- Solid color leggings or tights may be worn under uniform bottoms.
Footwear- Girls and Boys:
- Closed toed shoes are required for physical education with tennis shoes being recommended
- Strapped sandals acceptable in classroom
- Shoe heels should not exceed two inches for safety reasons.
- No “skate shoes” allowed
Makeup:
- Makeup may not be worn; except freshman girls may wear light makeup.
Other RHPCS Dress Code Guidelines:
- Students should have a neat, clean, and well groomed appearance.
- Clothing should not be ripped, torn, shredded or have obvious holes.
- Visible tattoos are not acceptable.
- Unnatural hair coloring or excessive spiking (i.e. punk) is not acceptable.
- Students will be allowed to wear a maximum of one pair of earrings. No other pierced jewelry is allowed for boys or girls.
- Clothing should be as well fitted as reasonably possible (i.e. no skin tight, see-through or over revealing tops or bottoms of any nature).
- No hats, hoods, scarves or non-religious head coverings of any kind are to be worn while inside the school buildings. However, hats, visors or other acceptable head coverings will be allowed outside to protect from the cold and the sun.
- Clothing or any item brought to school such as outer wear, backpacks, lunch boxes, notebooks, jewelry and hair pieces may not have any insignias, patterns, graphics, writing or messages that are obscene or relating to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, any illegal activity or any sexual innuendos.
- Gang attire of any kind is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to garments that are suggestive, colors, bandanas, or belts that have gang symbols or innuendos on them.
- Any attire, grooming habit or possession that disrupts the educational atmosphere will not be allowed.
- Special days that would not adhere to certain portions of this dress code may be allowed with the permission of the school administrator and announced in advance.
- The school administrator holds the right to determine if any apparel, jewelry, hair or other item is not appropriate for the Rolling Hills Public Charter School.
Rolling Hills Charter School amended dress code August 2007
